Krunker.io was created in 2018 by Swiss developer Sidney de Vries, whose studio brand Yendis Entertainment had earlier released browser games such as MooMoo.io and Bloble.io. The game gained a large following among players looking for a fast shooter that did not require a download.

In May 2022 the Lisbon-based instant games company FRVR announced that it had acquired Krunker.io for an undisclosed sum. At the time FRVR said the game had been played by more than 200 million unique players, and the Krunker team continued as a studio within FRVR. Besides the browser version, the site recommends an official desktop client for players who want steadier performance, and it runs ranked competitive matches alongside casual servers.

How to play Krunker.io

Before a match you pick a class, each built around a weapon and movement profile; new players start with Triggerman, which carries an assault rifle, while classes such as Hunter use a sniper rifle. Matches run on short timers across modes including Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Hardpoint and Parkour. Movement is a large part of the skill ceiling: experienced players chain slides and jumps to keep their speed while aiming. The game also includes a map editor, and players have published a large number of custom maps.

1. Open krunker.io and accept the cookie notice to load the game.
2. Choose a class from the menu; Triggerman is the default starting option.
3. Join the suggested server or browse the server list for a specific mode or map.
4. Click into the game window to lock the mouse, then follow the on-screen prompts and settings menu to review or change the controls.
