Play DOOM (Browser) in Your Browser
DOOM is id Software's 1993 first-person shooter. This link, silentspacemarine.com, is a Cloudflare technology demo that runs a WebAssembly port of the shareware version in the browser, with optional online multiplayer through Cloudflare's network.

DOOM (Browser) background
DOOM was released by id Software in December 1993 for MS-DOS, initially as shareware: the first episode, Knee-Deep in the Dead, was free to share, and the rest of the game was sold. Its networked deathmatch and widely documented file formats helped it become one of the most ported and modded games ever made.
Silent Space Marine was built by Cloudflare and described in a May 2021 blog post titled Multiplayer Doom on Cloudflare Workers. The game itself is Chocolate Doom, a faithful open-source source port, compiled to WebAssembly with Emscripten and modified so its network code uses WebSockets. A message router running on Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects relays traffic between players. Cloudflare published the website, router and Wasm port as open source, and the demo loads the freely distributable shareware data file doom1.wad.
How to play DOOM (Browser)
The shareware episode follows a lone space marine fighting through a moon base overrun by demons. Each level is a maze of rooms, corridors and outdoor areas where you shoot enemies, collect weapons, ammunition, armour and health, and find coloured keycards to open locked doors on the way to the exit switch. Secret areas hold extra supplies. The Play Solo button starts a normal single-player game, while Start Multiplayer connects the game to Cloudflare's router so several browsers can share a networked session.
- Open silentspacemarine.com and wait for the game files to load.
- Choose Play Solo for single-player, or Start Multiplayer to set up a networked game.
- On a phone, the page suggests hiding the browser toolbar for a better view.
- Use the in-game options menu to review the controls before starting a level.
