Shell Shockers was developed by Blue Wizard Digital and released for web browsers in 2017. It is one of the better-known browser ".io" shooters, and it runs in the browser without a download. Mobile versions for iOS and Android were released in 2021 and later discontinued, leaving the browser as the main way to play.

How to play Shell Shockers

Matches drop you into small arenas against other players, either in free-for-all or team modes. Before spawning you choose a primary weapon, with options that include an assault rifle, a shotgun, a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher, and every egg also carries a pistol, grenades and a melee attack. Taking damage cracks your shell; eliminate opponents to score and earn in-game currency for cosmetic items.

2. Enter a name, pick a game mode and a primary weapon for your egg.
3. Click Play to join a match; you can review and change the key bindings in the settings menu.
