Stimulation Clicker background

Neal Agarwal first had the idea for Stimulation Clicker during the COVID-19 lockdowns, saying he wanted to capture the experience of being terminally online. He worked on it publicly through late 2024, asking followers what features to add, and released it on neal.fun on January 6, 2025, after about four months of development.

The game takes inspiration from incremental games such as Cookie Clicker and Upgrade Complete!, and it received a positive response for its chaotic presentation and its commentary on the modern internet. Like his other neal.fun projects, it is free and runs in the browser with no download.

How to play Stimulation Clicker

You start with a single button that earns stimulation points when clicked. Points buy upgrades, and almost every upgrade adds another source of noise or motion to the screen, from bouncing logos and notifications to videos, games and other attention-grabbing widgets, each of which also generates more points. The more you buy, the faster points arrive and the more crowded and overwhelming the screen becomes. The experience is designed to show how stacking small rewards builds into overload.

  1. Open the page on neal.fun; sound helps, since many upgrades are audio-based.
  2. Click the central button to earn your first stimulation points.
  3. Spend points in the upgrade list to unlock new distractions that earn points for you.
  4. Keep buying upgrades as the screen fills up and see where the progression leads.
