Toss Office background

Toss Office was made by the small studio Ravenous Den and is published on itch.io with the tagline: shred some paper, toss the rest in a bin. The game was built with the Godot engine and is offered as an HTML5 version that runs on the page, plus downloadable builds for Windows and Linux. The itch.io page marks it as still in development and suggests downloading a native build if the browser version lags.

The developer has posted updates through itch.io devlogs; the first update rebalanced the price of stronger skill-tree upgrades, added a new piece of furniture that destroys paper for money, and introduced a broom that cleans up paper balls when hovered. Toss Office also has a Steam page, which describes it as an incremental game about procrastinating and offers a demo ahead of the full release.

How to play Toss Office

You play a new hire at the Department of Disposal whose job is to shred documents sent over from other services. Processing paper earns coins, and meeting management objectives brings extra rewards. Coins are spent on a branching upgrade tree that improves your own abilities, your team and the office furniture, and you can hire staff who keep shredding while you slack off, so the game gradually shifts from active clicking to watching an automated office. A full run is short, around half an hour according to the itch.io page.

  1. Open the itch.io page and click the button to run the game in your browser.
  2. Start shredding documents and tossing the leftover paper into the bin to earn your first coins.
  3. Spend coins in the upgrade tree and hire staff to automate the work.
  4. If the browser version becomes slow later in a run, the developer recommends the downloadable Windows or Linux build.
